what is Function of the Inner Tube?

 

The inner tube is a core component of tires, mainly serving to seal air, absorb shocks, and assist in load-bearing. It is particularly a critical structural part in traditional bias tires or some heavy-duty tires. Its specific functions are as follows:

 

1. Core Function: Sealing Air to Maintain Tire Pressure

    

   The inner tube is an airtight rubber bladder. After being inflated via the valve, it can stably maintain the rated air pressure inside the tire, providing the supporting force required for the tire to carry loads and absorb shocks - this is the foundation for the tire to perform its load-bearing and buffering functions.
   • For tubeless tires (e.g., tubeless radial tires), this function is replaced by the sealing structure between the tire sidewall and the rim. However, the sealing method of inner tubes is more suitable for heavy-load and complex road conditions (such as tires for construction vehicles).
2. Auxiliary Function: Absorbing Shocks to Improve Driving Comfort

    

   The inflated inner tube forms an elastic buffer layer that can absorb bump impacts from the road surface, reduce the transmission of vibrations to the vehicle chassis, enhance the driving comfort of heavy-duty vehicles like heavy trucks and construction machinery, and minimize direct impacts on the tire carcass.
3. Adaptation to Heavy-Load Scenarios: Assisting Load-Bearing and Structural Protection

    

   In heavy-load and unpaved road scenarios (e.g., tires for construction vehicles and agricultural machinery), the inner tube can help distribute the stress on the tire carcass, reduce friction and wear between the carcass and the rim. Inner tubes are mainly used in bias-ply tires and some heavy-duty radial tires (e.g., for construction vehicles and low-speed heavy-load vehicles).
